The Department of Health continues to refine rules for implementing the new counselor certification program

In the following links, you will find a great deal of detail that delineates qualification, scope and limits of practice, supervision and consultation, and continuing education for all new categories under the certification program. This program replaces the old registered counselor category.

If you are a hypnotist, you will want to look at this as well as hypnotists are mentioned in the rules.

There will be a test to pass covering screening and assessment before certification. These new rules also provide some detail about the test.

Of additional interest, the rules cover some of the requirements for getting listed as a recognized trainer for continuing education courses.

If you are currently a registered counselor, or if you think you will want to become a certified counselor at any level, you should look over these attachments carefully.

February and March Puget Sound Chapter meetings are going to focus on creating the optimal work/office space. Rebecca Ross will help us tackle the clutter and get ourselves impeccably organized in February. Then in March, Piper Lauri will guide us through the potentials of Feng Shui in creating the perfect working environment.

February 10:
Aligning Inside with Outside: Personal Organizing and Clutter Clearing
Rebecca Ross of The Composed Domain

What makes an environment that truly supports your life? This workshop examines a relationship we create and maintain each day. Learn about what you choose to live with, and what really supports you and your dreams. Every single item in our space should say: “Yes! This is what I care about, this gives me joy.” Too often we are surrounded with objects, furnishings and decorations that reflect who we were, what we spent money on, what someone gave us, or what we are afraid to let go of.

The three aspects of making our rooms really work are Order, Layout and Energy. First we’ll explore ways to deal with clutter and creating organizing systems that really work for you. Spatial layout is the next dimension - how your rooms reflect functionality. Lastly, learning to be aware of the energetics of your environment is the keystone to that sense of being home.

An architect for more than 20 years, Rebecca Ross became involved in helping people tackle their clutter problems as preparation for feng shui applications and energy clearing in a space. Her blend of practical organizing skills, personal warmth and humor supports her clients in creating balanced nurturing environments in which to live and work. In her career as an architect and network administrator Rebecca developed pragmatic skills in both spatial and informational organization. As a long time practitioner of meditation and tai chi she is experienced in balancing energy and cultivating stillness in body, mind and surroundings. With her assistance each client is empowered to create meaningful and lasting change.

April 14:
Promoting Your Business With Creative Products - Lee Kaplanian

Lee Kaplanian is a representative for CMTI, a company that specializes in promotional products for businesses. You’ve all seen those pens with a business name on them – or maybe a clever calendar. Well, that is just scratching the surface of what is possible to put your business name out there in a way that people will make people smile, remember you, and think of you the next time they need your kind of services. Lee has been with CMTI since she and her husband returned to Seattle to retire seven years ago. (It’s harder for some people to retire than others!)

When we had our discussion of how to keep our businesses going in a downturn, many people talked about adding thoughtful additions – little gifts – with their statements to their clients. Lee’s presentation will give you a whole new variety of ideas to look at – to get your own creative juices flowing. The great thing about Lee is that her creative juices get flowing when she is presented with a challenge from a client. Lee’s experience with commercial art and graphic design can help you take your ideas to the next level.

A special presentation from the WSHCC President, Kathy Baxter:  "What is Holism?"

We are all supporters of the Holistic Chamber of Commerce, but do we all mean the same thing when we say holistic?  What does it mean to be a holistic business person?  How does a holistic business look different from a traditional business?  Do we have values and practices in common that differentiate us?

As we understand more clearly what we mean by the term "holistic" we can do a better job of walking our holistic values out into the community, helping others to see and understand why you would want to seek out a  holistic business.

Please join us for a discussion of what holism means to you, and we can join together to carry the holistic message out into our communities.

Kathy Baxter is a counsellor and spiritual coach working in the Seattle area and on Whidbey Island.  She is the current President of the Washington Holistic Chamber of Commerce.  To learn more about Kathy, visit www.HarvestoftheHeart.com.  If you have any questions, just call or email.

All are welcome, so bring an associate or business acquaintance if you like.
